Deskripsi

“Beside being a respectable woman she was a very sensible one; and she knew there are some battles in life which a human being must fight alone.”

World Classic Little Book Kate Chopin was a prolific short story writer, crafting over a hundred stories that were published in prestigious magazines such as Vogue, The Atlantic, and Harper’s Young People. Her short stories are celebrated for their concise yet powerful narratives, often focusing on the inner lives of women and their struggles for autonomy and self-expression. “The Dream of an Hour,” also known as “The Story of an Hour,” is one of Kate Chopin’s most famous short stories. It poignantly explores the fleeting nature of freedom and the constraints placed on women in the 19th century. Other notable stories in this collection include “Her Letters”, “A Pair of Silk Stockings”, and “A Respectable Woman”.

About Author:
Kate Chopin (born Katherine O’Flaherty on Feb. 8, 1851, St. Louis, Mo., U.S.—died Aug. 22, 1904, St. Louis) was an American novelist and short-story writer known for her vivid portrayals of Louisiana Creole life. She married Oscar Chopin and moved to New Orleans, where she began to write after his death in 1882. Chopin’s works often explore themes of female independence and identity, making her a forerunner of 20th-century feminist literature.
